I’ve been editing, writing, and managing publications since the early 1980s, and have been fortunate to work for an incredibly diverse group of companies, from trade associations to worldwide design firms to online magazines. As a freelancer, I’ve worked on everything from music magazines to novels to travel guidebooks—with city planning proposals, legal books, and dairy safety guides thrown in along the way!
Over the years, I’ve also put my experience and enthusiasm for this field to work in a number of roles: I’ve taught both editing and proofreading classes through the University of Washington’s certificate program in editing; served on the board of the Association of Women in Communications Seattle chapter, the alumni board of the UW’s School of Communications, the communications board of the American Cancer Society, and the education committee of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild; and guest lectured or taught workshops at editing conferences, writing conferences, and audio series.
I’m also a writer as well as an editor, so I understand what it’s like to have my work edited: that’s why I bring an easy-going, positive approach and a sense of humor to my work.
